Modern Tapestry Crochet Book Review & Giveaway

Modern Tapestry Crochet

Book Review & Giveaway

Tapestry crochet is something I’ve always wanted to learn more about, especially the technique behind it. So, when I received the opportunity to review Modern Tapestry Crochet by Alessandra Hayden (Amazon affiliate link), I jumped at it. I knew that this would be a great way for me to learn more about tapestry crochet and have access to beautiful patterns.

What I look for in a crochet book about specific techniques and designs, is an explanation of how said technique or design is achieved. I find that this helps the crocheter understand the basic and the why behind what’s being done. When you understand the why, it helps to create a successful piece without frustration. Modern Tapestry Crochet does just that.

Alessandra takes her time to explain what tapestry crochet is and how it’s achieved. She shares tips on achieving a beautiful fabric that’s reversible, thin and pliable, and flawless looking. I really appreciate how the time was taken to explain working on the right side of the piece and working with color changes. This has helped me gain confidence in eventually taking up a tapestry crochet project.

There are patterns in this book that encompass different styles from head to toe!

Now, that being said… let me share with you some images of my favorite patterns (and there were many!). Of course, I love the one shown on the front cover, which is the Landscape Cowl. The colors used throughout are beautiful and have a Southwest feel and look to it.

Two other favorites are the Distant Mountains Throw and Point A Slouch. I love how the use of color is highlighted throughout the pieces.
